Wow! That was amazing!

I’ve been reading a lot lately – and when I say a lot I mean at least 3 books per week – and I can tell you that Gone Again is one of the best books I’ve read in the last few months. I couldn’t put it down. Luckily I had enough free time on my hands, so I started and finished it in just a few hours :)

When Mark Douglas’ wife, Lauren, doesn’t show up to collect their son Nathan from school, doesn’t come home that night and doesn’t pick her phone up, he knows something is wrong. She has disappeared once before, just after Nathan was born, and being pregnant now, could she be freaking out again?

Although Lauren’s disappearance is the big mystery of the book, the main storyline is the family’s relationship and how Mark, while trying to find his wife, deals with their 6 year old son and with people close to them. Mark’s character is brilliantly portrayed as we discover more about the couple’s past and how things slowly changed throughout the years, and we see his fears and impulsive feelings – which, at one point, leads the police to believe he’s a suspect.

There are tragic events unfolded and the mystery is solved pretty quickly. In my opinion, it’s is a little bit too much and there are some lose ends and unanswered questions, but because the parental issue and Mark’s character are so genuine and real, the disappearance thing doesn’t seem that relevant to the point of spoiling the story.

Fantastic book – it’s out on the 7th March (paperback) and on the 26th February (Kindle), so pre-order yours now and tell me later if you liked it as much I as did.

P.S.: Thanks Doug + Faber and Faber for sending me a copy of the book :)

Buy Gone Again from: The Book Depository or Amazon.
